Former Wanderer Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has joined Burton Albion on a short-term deal following the expiry of his contract at Wrexham.

Bodvarsson was released by the Whites at the end of last season and headed to the Racecourse Ground in October, featuring seven times for Phil Parkinson’s side.

The 32-year-old now heads to the Pirelli Stadium as the Brewers battle against the drop under Gary Bowyer, who took charge last month.

“It's brilliant to be here,” Bodvarsson told the club site. “I'm really looking forward to meeting up with the lads and hopefully I can help the team to climb up the table.

“The club has a nice family feel to it and as a family man myself I can't wait to get started."

Burton are back in league action this weekend when they travel to the Broadfield Stadium to take on relegation rivals Crawley Town.

Bowyer added: “I'm absolutely delighted. To have attracted somebody of his experience and his quality is a real credit to everybody.

“We can't wait for him to get going because he's going to be such a valuable player for us.”

Bodvarsson could come up against his former team-mates when Bolton head to Burton on Saturday, March 8.

Meanwhile, Zac Ashworth – another former Wanderer – has joined Ross County on loan six months on from joining Blackpool.

Ashworth made 23 appearances for the Whites last season on loan from West Brom, scoring three times.

He completed a permanent move to Bloomfield Road in the summer but only made six league appearances for the Seasiders during the first half of the campaign.

The 22-year-old now heads to Victoria Park as Ross County look to climb the Scottish Premiership table.

“We are really pleased to add Zac to the group,” manager Don Cowie told the club site.

“He comes with a good amount of games played in English football as well as with the Welsh national team at youth level. He is a versatile player who has experience playing as a full-back as well as at centre back.”
