Ex-City loanee Luca Thomas return to the National League with Halifax move
LUCA THOMAS is back in the National League after his loan stay with York City came to an end.
Leeds United youngster Thomas had initially joined York in mid-October, scoring in his City debut in a comfortable 4-0 win over Ebbsfleet United at the LNER Community Stadium.
He would go on to appear nine times in the National League with the Minstermen, with his loan being extended until January, managing 193 minutes and registering two goals, with his involvement often coming from the bench.
Thomas' loan with York came to an end on January 2, with City manager Adam Hinshelwood being hopeful of extending the deal for the young striker, who he had been hugely complimentary of.
However, with the form of league top scorer Ollie Pearce seeing Thomas' time with City limited, and the permanent addition of striker Josh Stones from Wigan Athletic, Hinshelwood admitted that the chances of an extension had become unlikely for York.
Therefore, Thomas has been allowed to return to the National League by parent club Leeds, joining FC Halifax Town on a deal until the end of the season.
Thomas had confirmed his York departure on social media, saying: I want to wish everyone associated with @YorkCityFC all the best for the rest of the season.
"The fans, staff and the players were all brilliant and I enjoyed every moment with you all."

Halifax are currently on the verge of the play-offs, occupying eighth position with 39 points, level with seventh-placed Rochdale.
It comes after a run of five matches without a defeat in the league for the Shaymen.
Thomas could make his Halifax debut in tomorrow's National League fixture against Dagenham & Redbridge at the Shay Stadium (3pm).
