Former Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara could be on the move in the January transfer window. French media outlet L'Equipe claim the Finland international is attracting interest from Middlesbrough, Ipswich Town, Southampton and Trabzonspor.

Our sister title Teesside Live states Kamara is a player of interest to Boro as they chase a top-six finish. Teesside Live reports Middlesbrough would pursue a deal for Kamara if the finances of the deal were viable.

Kamara, who played a big role in the Whites' promotion push last term, left Elland Road in the summer to join Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais for a fee believed to be in excess of £8m. The 29-year-old played 42 times for United last term as they made it through to the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

But Kamara has endured a disappointing spell in France making only 13 appearances for Rennes. He is thought to be available for transfer, having been axed from the training squad following the Coupe de France exit to Ligue 2 side Troyes.

Kamara has not started a league match for Rennes since mid-November, having fallen out of favour with their new boss Jorge Sampaoli. Rennes are level on points with AS Saint-Étienne, who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot.

Boro are believed to be in the market for a new midfielder after falling out of the play-off places after losing 2-1 to Portsmouth last weekend. Aidan Morris and Jonny Howson have missed large portions of the 2024/25 season through injury.

Seventh-placed Middlesbrough return to action tonight when they welcome fellow promotion contenders West Bromwich Albion to the Riverside.
