Ex-Liverpool star makes Mohamed Salah to Saudi Arabia statement after transfer admission
Dejan Lovren has weighed in on Mohamed Salah’s future once again, suggesting that he wants to be reunited with his former Liverpool teammate in Saudi Arabia.
Ex-Reds defender Lovren has already made quite a splash this week after suggesting that Salah - who he was great friends with during his time at Anfield - was closer to leaving the club than he is to signing a new contract. As things stand of course, the Egyptian will leave Merseyside as a free agent during the summer as his contract runs down.
"I think he's closer to leaving, he's closer to leaving than to staying at the moment," Lovren told winwin.

"I know what I feel, I hope everything will turn, I honestly hope for the best. In the end, it's for the money, but he's worth it, much more than the money. Who will you replace him with? That would be the first question if I was in the club. I think you would have to pay 200 million to replace him."
That wasn’t all Lovren had to say though on the matter though, with new quotes emerging after the Croatian was asked about the prospect of making the move to Saudi Arabia. The 35-year-old now plies his trade with Greek club PAOK, but he has left the door open to a move to the Middle East - and the possibility of playing alongside Salah there.
"The Saudi League? I’m open to playing there. Maybe one day, Mo and I will play there together,” Lovren said, as per winwin reporter Ismael Mahmoud.
On the Saudi Pro League, Lovren added: “They can definitely compete with the top five leagues. When you have the players, the coaches, and the facilities in some stadiums and clubs, it’s amazing to see. But they need to be more competitive.
“I hope that one day, some clubs will be allowed to participate in the Champions League. I truly believe that teams like Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Al Ahli can play better than some European teams and deserve to be there. It would be exciting.
“It’s special to see how they are developing their country. I’ve been there once, before the World Cup in Qatar, when we played against their national team. We stayed in Riyadh, and to be honest, it’s a beautiful city."
Liverpool.com says: Well, Lovren seems set on a move to Saudi Arabia, but hopefully Salah isn’t ready to make the move yet. As much as his former teammate thinks Pro League sides could play in the Champions League - which is a crazy shout - they’re still nowhere near the level of Europe’s top sides, especially Liverpool.
Salah still has so much to offer, as he’s proving this season, and it would be a complete waste if he were to leave for the Middle East this summer. If he stays in Europe, whether it be at Anfield or elsewhere, he could continue breaking even more records and winning the top prizes.
