FORMER Morton full-back Lewis Strapp has secured his return the Scottish Championship after leaving a top flight Finnish side last month.

The 25-year-old is now set to resume his career in Scotland after penning a deal with Airdrieonians.

Strapp departed his Cappielow in June to join SJK Seinäjoki.

During his six-month spell in Finland, he helped the club book a spot in the UEFA Conference League.

In an interview with the Tele last month, Strapp said he was coming home 'a better player' and a 'more mature person'.

He told DiamondsTV: “I’m glad to get it over the line, I obviously just want to get going now.

"It’s coming into the new year and I want to get playing and get some minutes under my belt.

“I’d been at Morton my whole life really, until the last six or seven months, and I’m just glad to be home and get back playing – I’m sure we’ll be playing them soon at Cappielow and it’ll be enjoyable.

“When I went back to Morton last year, we went on a 16-game unbeaten run.

"It was a good six months of the season, and to recreate that here would be something special.”

Airdrie currently sit bottom of the Championship ahead of their home game against Falkirk tonight.

They are due to face Morton in the league at Cappielow on February 15.
