The ex-Rovers players who were on the move in the January window
With the transfer window now shut, we take a look at some of the ex-Rovers players who have been on the move over the past month.
Jordan Rhodes
The former Ewood Park favourite completed a deadline day move to Mansfield on loan for the rest of the campaign.
Blackpool boss Steve Bruce had given the 34-year-old his blessing to find a new club and several in League One had been linked, but the Stags ended up winning the race for his signature.
Rhodes had only made three starts in the league since the start of the season and now heads to Field Mill with Nigel Clough’s side sitting 14th in the table.
Niall Ennis
Ennis’ arrival at Bloomfield Road likely played a part in the decision to let Rhodes depart in the final stages of the window.
The 25-year-old is back in Lancashire 12 months on from his Rovers exit. He had only made nine league appearances for Stoke this season, scoring once.
Ennis made a dream start to his Blackpool loan, scoring a late equaliser against Charlton at the weekend.
Grant Hanley
The veteran centre-back headed to League One leaders Birmingham on a deal until the end of the season.
Hanley had been at Norwich since 2017 but was released from the remainder of his contract at Carrow Road to link up with Chris Davies’ squad.
Birmingham have a four-point cushion at the top of the table, with two games in hand still to make up at this stage.
Ben Brereton Diaz
The Chile international returned to Sheffield United on loan after failing to make his mark at Southampton during the first half of the campaign.
Brereton Diaz played 13 times for the struggling Saints and failed to get off the mark, but he is already up and running at Bramall Lane.
The 25-year-old scored the winner at Derby over the weekend and will be eager to kick on as Chris Wilder’s side battle for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Tayo Edun
Edun joined Peterborough on a deal until the end of the season following a tough time at Charlton.
The 26-year-old played 37 times for the Addicks following his Ewood Park exit in 2023 and had not featured in the league this season prior to his arrival at London Road.
Peterborough finished in the play-offs last term but currently sit in 19th place and five points above the relegation zone.
Corry Evans
The former Northern Irish international is back in the North West after joining Oldham on a deal until the end of the campaign.
Evans had been a free agent after leaving League Two side Bradford and is now aiming to help the Latics get back into the Football League.
The 34-year-old made his debut against Aldershot earlier this month but his match was cut short after picking up an injury in the first half.
Ryan Giles
The full-back, who had a loan spell at Ewood Park during the 2021/22 campaign, joined Middlesbrough on loan from Hull.
Giles, who made a positive impression at Boro in 2022/23, bolsters Michael Carrick’s squad as they aim to get back in the top six.
However, the 25-year-old had a nightmare start – scoring a late own goal in a narrow defeat against promotion rivals Sunderland on Monday night.
Adam Armstrong
The former Blackburn Rovers striker shone for Southampton in the Championship last term but has been allowed to join West Brom in January after falling down the pecking order.
The late-night deal needed FA clearance on Tuesday but has been allowed to pass through. The forward could feature for the Baggies against Rovers next Wednesday.
