Leyton Orient have turned to another player with Tottenham connections following the success of Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley's loan deals this season. Former Spurs man Dilan Markanday has now made the temporary move to the Gaughan Group Stadium after joining from Blackburn Rovers on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Orient are flying in League One at present and they also have Premier League champions Manchester City to come next month in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Both Keeley and Donley have played huge roles in Orient's remarkable run of form that has seen them go on an 11-match unbeaten run since the goalkeeper's FA Cup heroics against Oldham Athletic in late November.

Needing a hero with the National League side set to advance, Keeley went up for a late free-kick and nodded in at the death to send the game to extra time. The 2-1 victory over the side from Lancashire also proved to be a big turning point in Donley's season after initially struggling for game time and even finding himself out of the matchday squad on occasions.

Since a good showing against Oldham, Donley has become an undroppable in Richie Wellens' side, notably scoring four goals in his last six appearances for The O's. Now eighth in the League One table and four points behind Reading in the final play-off spot after winning their last five fixtures, Orient are very much in the running for promotion to the Championship.

The addition of Markanday could well give them a further boost in the final third going into the second half of the campaign. Making his mark for Tottenham in Premier League 2 in the 2021/22 season with 12 goals and five assists in 14 games, the versatile attacker, who made a solitary appearance for the Spurs first team, joined Championship side Blackburn Rovers on a permanent basis in January 2022.

Appearing in 35 games for the club since his move to Ewood Park, Markanday made the season-long loan move to League Two side Chesterfield in the summer. It proved to be a good switch for the 23-year-old after recording seven goals and three assists in 24 games, thus seeing Rovers recall him from Chesterfield on Thursday and immediately send him to Orient as they look to test him in a higher division.

Tottenham players old and new have had quite the influence at Orient, with Markanday now the latest to make the move to east London. Speaking to Leyton Orient's official website about his loan move, the attacker said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have joined the club. I've had some real positive conversations with the gaffer and Martin Ling, and it's a club that is in a really good place at the moment.

"I had a really good loan spell at Chesterfield in the first half of the season, which I'm really grateful for, but now I'm really excited to step up a league and prove what I can do. Orient play a really nice brand of football and recent results have been great, and it's a style of play I think my skillset can settle into well. Everyone at the club is looking forward to the rest of the season."

The first chance for Keeley, Donley and Markanday to line up alongside each other will be on Saturday when Leyton Orient travel to Peterborough for a 12.30pm kick-off.
