Stoke City youth striker Dara McGuinness has joined Finn Harps in the League of Ireland Division One.

The 20-year-old forward joined Stoke in the summer of 2022 and has been a regular for the under-21s as well as spending time on loan at Leek Town earlier this season.

Now he has returned to Ireland to join Finn Harps at the start of a new season, which starts on February 14 with an away trip to Kerry.

Manager Darren Murphy said: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Dara to the club. He is a really exciting talent having come through the ranks at St Pats and Shamrock Rovers before then entering the Stoke City academy system and from speaking with him he is very keen to get in now and hit the ground running at Finn Park.

"He gives us that added quality in that area of the pitch, and fits the mould of the kind of player me and my staff are looking to bring into the football club. It’s great to have him signed up now and I’m looking forward to working with him this season.”

McGuinness scored five times for Stoke under-21s last season, on the back of getting six the previous season.

Stoke have also sent 18-year-old centre-back Freddie Anderson out on loan to Ireland, where he will play for Cork City for the season.
