EXCLUSIVE: Cheltenham Town agree January deal for Waterford full-back Darragh Power
Cheltenham Town have agreed a deal to sign right-back Darragh Power from League of Ireland Premier Division club Waterford FC on a permanent basis, Gloucestershire Live understands.
Waterford is where former Robins pair Grant Horton and James Olayinka are now plying their trades, with midfielder Olayinka arriving in November in preparation for the 2025 campaign.
Forward Pádraig Amond, who played under boss Michael Flynn at Newport County AFC, is also in the Blues' squad. They finished seventh of 10 teams in 2024.
Power, who turned 24 on December 29, has progressed through the ranks - helping the club win the Under-19s League in 2019 - to become an influential senior first team player under manager Keith Long.
Cheltenham's record signing Aidan Keena joined from League of Ireland club Sligo Rovers in January 2023. He is now back there with St Patrick's Athletic.
Power is now expected to sign a contract at League Two club Cheltenham, who have also lined up the loan signing of Brentford forward Ashley Hay.
Neither player can feature at Port Vale on New Year's Day, but they will both be in contention for the home match against leaders Walsall on January 4.
