Exeter City 'have to stick together' to end winless league run
Exeter City stand-in captain Josh Magennis said that Grecians have to stick together after their League One winless run stretched to six games. City were beaten 3-1 at home by Blackpool on a disappointing afternoon at St James Park with players booed off at half-time and full-time.
City had arguably been the better of the two sides until a crazy 10 minutes just before the break when they conceded all three goals in totally avoidable fashion. All three came from defensive errors as CJ Hamilton, Tom Bloxham and Ashley Fletcher were given acres of space on the break.
Millenic Alli netted a consolation in the final ten minutes to pull one back. And had a stonewall penalty been given for a foul on Tony Yogane, then it could have a grandstand finale. But as it was, City suffered a fifth defeat in six as they dropped down to 17th in the table.

“We got caught in transition and there were three quick fire goals,” Magennis said. “And that was too much to come back from. But we performed well in the second half so we have to take the positives from that.
“We kept knocking on the door and one of them goes in… But if we are not scoring we have to try to not concede and to concede three from our mistakes, it is a tough one to take.
“We can forgive but not forget and can’t linger on it. We have to knock on the door, lick our wounds, but can’t be too down and disheartened. We have to stay consistent, stay together, and have to keep doing the basics well and the tide will turn.
“When we give the fans something to cheer for, they don’t disappoint. They expect to be entertained and when we are out of character and 3-0 down they are going to voice their opinions. We have to look to try and rectify it.”
Exeter City are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Leyton Orient.
