Exeter City get win they deserve after Millenic Alli's stunning strike
It was the best goal he has ever scored, and won that was worthy of winning any game. Millenic Alli’s sixth goal of the season was a 25 yard rocket that swerved and dipped to end up in the top corner, as ended exeter-city-fc>Exeter City’s winless run.
When Burton Albion gave their new manager Gary Bowyer the perfect start when Billy Bodin drilled home a free-kick from the edge of the area with just seven minutes played, it looked as if City’s struggles could continue. But the Grecians though were far the better side and fully deserved the three points.
Josh Magennis deservedly drew City level with a close range header from Alli’s cross in first half stoppage-time. And then the Irishman won it with 20 minutes to go with an outrageous strike which was a goal-of-the-season contender without any doubt.

“I got it wide, came inside, shot, dipped and it has gone in,” the striker said. “It is the best goal I have scored and topped all of them.
“I am very delighted as we needed that win. We have had a tough few games, hard as we went a goal down, but stayed in the game, kept pushing, stayed patient and got we deserved tonight
“We had to be patient, we kept the ball well, created chances, and had to keep faith and take them when they came. We had to keep having faith as it was a winnable game and we had to take chances, and we went out and did that.
“They are a tough team to play against, we had to stay organized and manage the game properly and we did well there. The fans were fantastic, so a big thank you to them.”
The victory for City was a first in the league since November 9 and only a second in all competitions in the last nine, as well as being the first time in the league all season they have come from behind to win. They rose up to 13 th in the League One table with the three points
“Milli was a big threat, crosses in the box a big threat, and he gets his reward with an outrageous hit,” manager Gary Caldwell said of the winner. “I was begging him to pass it, but thankfully he knows better than me and it was a fantastic goal and everyone will remember it for a long time.”
The victory did come at a slight cost with Tristan Crama limping off in the first half, while captain Pierce Sweeney missed out with injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines.
“Tristan had a tight hamstring and didn’t train yesterday,” Caldwell said. “He was better this morning and we thought it was worth risking him. He isn’t any worse now so we hope came off at the right time. Sweenz had a calf problem in the Barnsley game and it is probably going to be a number of weeks, but he will work hard to be back as quickly as possible.”
