The expected final Six Nations table as Warren Gatland gets his wish
Wales will pick up a second successive wooden spoon at this year's Six Nations, according to the bookmakers.
Warren Gatland's side suffered their first whitewash in 21 years at last year's tournament, as they failed to win a single game. That losing run would run right the way through the rest of 2024, with their winless streak at Test level now a record 12 matches heading into the new Six Nations campaign.
Such a dismal run of form has seen them named as favourites to finish bottom of the table again this time around, in odds collated from various experts and released by Oddschecker. Those predictions will come as little surprise to Gatland and may well even please him. The coach has spoken on more than one occasion about how he likes to see his side's chances dismissed as it galvanises his players, previously telling the media: "Keep writing us off!"

Speaking at the Six Nations launch in Rome on Tuesday, the Wales coach said: "There is no expectation on us. People are writing us off, but I have said this before, you write us off at your peril.
"We have to create some confidence and self-belief within our group. We need to create a siege mentality."
Having been 25/1 outsiders to win last year's championship, Gatland's side are now priced at a huge 80/1 to take the crown. However, they are favourites for the wooden spoon with 10/11 odds.
Ireland are favourites to be crowned champions again as they look for a third successive title win, with France following closely behind in second, England in third and Scotland in fourth.
Wales have also been given 5/4 odds of going winless again, with the chances of them pulling off a miraculous Grand Slam and winning all five games priced at a huge 500/1. They are also the clear outsiders when it comes to winning a Triple Crown, with Ireland favourites to pull it off at 8/5 but Gatland's side given odds of 66/1.
They are also priced at 50/1 to score the most tries, or indeed points of all the teams at the tournament, placing them fifth, while their opening match against France looks set to only go one way, according to bookies.
Les Bleus are the overwhelming favourites to inflict defeat in the tournament curtain raiser in Paris on January 31, having been given odds of 1/33 to win. Wales, meanwhile, are priced at 25/1 to pull of a shock victory, with the odds of a draw currently at 70/1.
