Birmingham City are nursing George Hall back to fitness after the talented youngster suffered another hamstring injury during his loan spell at Walsall.

Hall returned to Blues last month after picking up the injury in training on the eve of Walsall’s victory over Barrow on December 14. The midfielder had just found form with League Two leaders Walsall with two goals and two assists from 12 appearances.

Having initially thought Hall would be out for six to eight weeks, Walsall boss Mat Sadler now expects the 20-year-old to be out until late March at the earliest.

"That's what we thought initially (that he'd be out for six to eight weeks) but he saw another consultant when was back at Birmingham and had a surgery on his hamstring which hopefully will provide the real answers he has needed,” Sadler told the Express & Star.

"He's another one that we're hopeful of getting back before the end of the season and nothing would please me more to see him back with us."

Hall has been blighted by hamstring issues for two years now and faces another season with limited minutes on the pitch. Since bursting onto the scene in 2022/23 and winning Blues’ Young Player of the Year award, Hall has only made 15 league appearances – eight substitute outings for Blues last term and seven games in League Two for Walsall.
