FA Cup draw LIVE!

The FA Cup fourth round draw takes place this afternoon at the Emirates Stadium following Arsenal’s home defeat by holders Manchester United, the blockbuster clash of the third round that ended with a dramatic penalty shootout. The action began back on Thursday, and we’ve already had Premier League sides knocked out as 64 teams are eventually whittled down to 32.

Graham Potter was unable to kick his West Ham tenure off with a win as Aston Villa confirmed their place in the hat for the next round, before Liverpool made easy work of milk advert colleagues Accrington Stanley, Chelsea thrashed Morecambe and Manchester City put eight past Salford. Brentford lost at home to Championship strugglers Plymouth in a sizable upset, with Hull and Oxford among the second-tier teams to fall to lower EFL opponents.

Earlier on Sunday, Tottenham eventually saw off non-league part-timers Tamworth, the lowest-ranked team in the third round, after a huge scare and extra time as Ange Postecoglou began another cup run in his second season in charge. Follow the FA Cup fourth round draw live below!

Holders Manchester United beat Arsenal on penalties

Arsenal are OUT of the FA Cup!

Joshua Zirkzee dispatches the winning penalty at the Emirates as holders Manchester United advance into round four, winning the shootout 5-3 after a 1-1 draw through extra time.

Altay Bayindir the unlikely hero as he saved Kai Havertz’s effort to follow a number of fine saves during the game, including from Martin Odegaard’s original penalty.

A huge blow to the Gunners’ hopes of silverware this season, with Mikel Arteta’s side six points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League title race and also facing a huge task to overturn their 2-0 deficit against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

A major boost for Ruben Amorim, meanwhile...

Arsenal vs Manchester United heading to penalties

17:45 , George Flood

The full-time whistle in extra time has sounded at the Emirates!

A bit of a low-key finish to an otherwise enthralling game with both sides rather running out of steam.

We will have penalties to decide if Arsenal or Manchester United advance into round four.

The draw will come after this shootout.

Who else has sealed FA Cup progress today?

17:37 , George Flood

So who else has booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round draw today?

Championship strugglers Hull fell victim to a home upset by League Two promotion-chasers Doncaster earlier on, the visitors winning 5-4 on penalties and joining the likes of Exeter, Plymouth and Wycombe in pulling off third round upsets following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Tottenham almost fell at non-league Tamworth in an incredible shock before holding their nerve to progress 3-0 in extra time.

Eberechi Eze’s early goal was enough for Crystal Palace to see off third-tier Stockport 1-0 at Selhurst Park, while Ipswich brushed aside League One Bristol Rovers 3-0 at Portman Road - Kalvin Phillips scoring the pick of the goals.

Newcastle vs Bromley we’ve covered, while the Premier League’s bottom club Southampton currently lead Championship Swansea 2-0 at St Mary’s courtesy of first-half efforts from Kamaldeen Sulemana and Tyler Dibling.

Penalties looming at the Emirates

Half-time in extra time and it’s still locked at 1-1 between Arsenal and 10-man Manchester United at the Emirates.

Penalties are looming unless anyone can make themselves a hero in the next 15 minutes plus stoppage time.

That will of course delay the fourth round draw proceedings even further.

Newcastle bounce back against Bromley to extend winning run

17:13 , George Flood

Extra time not needed at St James’ Park, where Newcastle bounced back from an early shock delivered by Cameron Congreve to beat fourth-tier Bromley 3-1.

Goals from Lewis Miley, Anthony Gordon and William Osula secured an eighth consecutive win across all competitions for Eddie Howe’s in-form side and sealed their spot in the fourth round.

Still an afternoon to remember for Bromley, who had never before reached the third round and were facing Premier League opposition for the very first time during what is their maiden season in the EFL.

Andy Woodman can be very proud of his side.

Draw delayed as Arsenal vs Manchester United goes to extra time

17:03 , George Flood

Extra time it is then at the Emirates Stadium after a thrilling second half that saw a couple of huge misses from Kai Havertz and more impressive saves from Altay Bayindir - who denied Declan Rice once more.

That of course means this evening’s fourth round draw will now be delayed.

A penalty shootout will be needed if the two teams are still level after another 30 minutes.

Arsenal vs Manchester United latest

Incredible second-half drama at the Emirates, where second-string United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is making the most of his chance by saving Martin Odegaard’s penalty and also making a superb stop to tip over Declan Rice’s header.

Bruno Fernandes’ excellent finish had given United an early second-half lead, with Diogo Dalot then sent off for two bookable offences shortly before Gabriel’s equaliser.

Gabriel Jesus has been stretchered off for Arsenal, who many felt were very fortunate to get their penalty after a challenge on Kai Havertz was followed by a huge melee.

It’s proper old-school Arsenal vs United fare in north London!

FA Cup fourth round draw live

16:29 , George Flood

Hello and welcome to Standard Sport’s live coverage of the draw for the FA Cup fourth round.

It’s been a hugely eventful few days already in the world’s oldest football competition and there is plenty more to come as we await the conclusion of the blockbuster tie between Arsenal and Manchester United and the rest of this afternoon’s games, with Southampton vs Swansea still to come and non-league Dagenham & Redbridge heading to Millwall tomorrow night.

Today’s draw follows Arsenal vs United at the Emirates Stadium, which is currently locked at 1-1 midway through the second half and the visitors down to 10 men.

We should be underway at around 5:30pm GMT, though of course that is entirely dependent on whether extra time and possibly even penalties are needed in north London.

Stay tuned for live updates!
