Myles Lewis-Skelly will be eligible to play for Arsenal against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon (4.30pm) after having his red card for violent conduct overturned.

The left-back was controversy sent off against Wolves on Saturday afternoon by referee Michael Oliver. But he will now be free to play against City after the FA (Football Association) overturned his red card.

"An independent Regulatory Commission has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Myles Lewis-Skelly and removed his three-match suspension," a statement from the FA read. Arteta hinted in his post-match press conference on Saturday that the Gunners would have appealed Lewis-Skelly's sending-off if the FA did not retrospectively overturn it.

"Well hopefully we don't need to," he said "If we have to, it's a really good precedent with what happened with Bruno [Fernandes vs Tottenham] this season. Hopefully.

"Ok we were in a position we shouldn't have been in, at least let's be in a position that we should be in for the next few weeks and allow our player to continue to do his job."

When asked for his overall thought's on the sending off, he replied: "I think it's that obvious that we don't need any comments today. Hopefully the right thing will happen after today."

Lewis-Skelly will miss domestic fixtures against Manchester City, Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, and Leicester City if the FA do not retrospectively overturn his red card.

Pep Guardiola's squad will be looking for three successive Premier League wins when they take on Arsenal after beating Ipswich Town 6-0 before earning a 3-1 win victory against Chelsea on Saturday evening. City are next in action at home to Club Brugge before that on Wednesday night (8pm) as they look to avoid elimination from the Champions League.
