Fans fume as VAR causes more controversy across the Premier League

VAR continues to wreak havoc across the opening weekend of the Premier League.

After technical difficulties in Liverpool on Friday night and three massively controversial decisions as Man City beat West Ham 5-0 on Saturday, the video assistant referee sent Twitter into a spiral again as Wolves took the lead at Leicester on Sunday, only for it to be ruled out.

Joao Moutinho's corner was met by Leander Dondoncker, whose header was blocked by team-mate Willy Boly before the Belgian reacted quickest and found the back of the net.

In its first year in the Premier League, VAR has long divided fans and pundits with most grumbles aimed at the length of time it eats into match action, but this weekend is most certainly about the decisions themselves.

Due to much debate from fans, commentators and anyone watching the match, the Premier League themselves took to Twitter to put any questions about the decision to bed.

We can still expect much debate and controversy throughout the Premier League this season, at least there’s on 37 game weeks to go!
