Ian Evatt's time at Wanderers has come to an end after four-and-a-half-years in charge. Supporters have been sharing their views on Evatt’s tenure and where the club should turn for its next appointment.

Matthew Bottomley: Two trips to Wembley, one trophy, a promotion and some serious football along the way. Time for the next step but helped rebuild this club from the bottom. Much appreciated.

Scott Smith: The last 12 months have been difficult but that doesn’t overshadow the other four years. Promotion, brought silverware to the club and memories to last a lifetime.

EM: Thanks for the memories and bringing our club back together again. Although it hasn’t been great since the Wembley defeat, there have certainly been more ups than downs.

Daniel: I know it didn’t work out over the last 12 months but thank your for your efforts, Ian. Had some brilliant times over the past five seasons, up and down the country. The Covid promotion celebrations were a particular highlight.

Peter Coglan: I wish him well. He took over at a terrible time and achieved a lot in his first three seasons. I hope we get a decent replacement.

Owain: Four-and-a-half-years is a long time in football and we’ve had many ups and downs. The Wembley win, multiple 4/5/6/7-0 wins and Barnsley away in the play-offs. Change was needed for all involved at the end but I’m grateful for some of my best days as a Bolton fan.

Cam: Fell back in love with this club because of Evatt and his team. Played some fantastic football and had some great times, home and away, watching the Whites. Shame it’s ended like this but I wish him all the best.

MB: You were the reason myself, my son and daughter became season ticket holders. The buzz you gave us all talking about the journey to come was what we needed and, for the most part, what we got. Memories to last a lifetime.

Alex Davies: Thank you Ian for all you’ve done, getting us back to League One, winning the EFL Trophy and playing some great football, as well as stabilising the club along with the owners.

Darren Scott: Steven Schumacher got Plymouth promoted as League One champions. Strangely sacked by Stoke, already has Championship experience, still young, ambitious and plays attacking football. Or Rob Edwards, he plays a similar system to Ian Evatt so might be able to get this set of players performing.

JW: We have recruited for years for a back five, we don't really have any wingers in the squad, so hiring a manager who likes a back four doesn't seem correct. Schumacher played a back five at Plymouth and worked wonders with it, seamless transition for our current set of players.

Nigel: It now depends on whether you still think we have a chance of promotion this season or not. Steven Schumacher does well in automatic promotion but didn’t do so well in a one-off Wembley final. Rob Edwards and Neil Harris haven't got great win percentages.

Darryl Jordan: Rob Edwards, clear as day appointment if they can land him.

Sam Booth: Ambitious but Gary O’Neil.

Hobbs: A name I like who I think would be of interest to build on is Gary O’Neil, if he would come. Past player, good project for him to rebuild his reputation. Like it a lot.

Barry Howarth: Big Sam until June and see where we’re at. No brainer.

Matthew Rushton: Think the general consensus seems to be Schumacher but I think, ideally, we just need someone who knows the league and how to get promoted.

Sue Atkinson: Steven Schumacher or Des Buckingham for me but whoever it is, good luck to them and let’s hope we get back to winning ways.

Neil Smith: Need an experienced manager who can get the best out of a squad versus trying to implement a playing style, that is the immediate requirement.
