Filip Jorgensen wants Chelsea move as Blues hold £20m talks with Villarreal
Filip Jorgensen has his hopes set on a move to Chelsea, as the Blues look to thrash out a deal for the Villarreal goalkeeper.
Villarreal want a fee in the region of £20million for the 22-year-old.
Chelsea are thought to be negotiating a final fee for a potential third goalkeeping recruit in two summers.
Marseille have also been tracking Jorgensen but he is understood to want to join Chelsea.
The Blues signed Robert Sanchez for £25million and Djordje Petrovic for £14million last summer.
Those two goalkeepers battled it out for the No 1 spot last season but the goalkeeping ranks at Chelsea could well be shifted around again.
Petrovic has missed the start of Chelsea’s pre-season tour of America due to a minor injury.
He has stayed in London to rehab the problem at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.
Sanchez started Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Wrexham in California.
A goalkeeper who can contribute confidently to build-up play with his feet is integral to new head coach Enzo Maresca’s tactical approach.
And that requirement is understood to be central to Chelsea’s continued hunt for a new goalkeeping.
Maresca refused to rule out another goalkeeper arriving at Chelsea in this transfer window when speaking after the Wrexham draw in Santa Clara.
“What I can say is Robert did very well and did very well since we started,” said Maresca.
"For sure, the way we want to play, the goalkeeper is very, very important — one of the main positions. And I don't want to talk about players that are not Chelsea players, but I am very happy with Robert.”
Asked about signing a new goalkeeper, Maresca replied: “We'll see, we'll see. In this moment we have four goalkeepers. Petrovic is still with us but injured. We will see with the timing. When the transfer window is open, anything can happen for us and for the rest."
