Five out, two in and £40m demand - Chelsea's January transfer window state of play
Chelsea are reportedly interested in bringing in a striker and a centre-back during the January transfer window but sales are still required.
The Blues find themselves inside the top four heading into the new year but head coach Enzo Maresca is thought to be keen on strengthening as well as allowing some of the 'dead wood' from the squad to depart. According to the Daily Mail, a striker remains the priority to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson.
Ipswich Town's Liam Delap is thought to be a player of interest and there is thought to be an unknown release clause inserted into his contract that could aid that approach. However, there is believed to be competition, including from Manchester United and potentially Manchester City, who may well have a buyback clause.

The other position believed to be of interest is a centre-back as the Blues hope to offload Axel Disasi this winter. However, it is thought the priority in regards incomings is a striker.
Unsurprisingly, outgoings are also thought to be on the agenda in January after a summer of spending. Five players, including Disasi, are believed to be on the radar for exits.
Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka are thought to be top of the exit list. The former is thought to have limited options considering his age and lack of games recently while the Blues want Chukwuemeka's £40m release clause to be met if they are to sell him permanently.
If not, a loan to affiliate club Strasbourg could be on the cards for him. Elsewhere, a return to Italy is thought to be on the agenda for 21-year-old Cesare Casadei while summer arrival Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could be offered out on loan having failed to make much headway in the first-team since arriving from Leicester City with Maresca.
