Footballer Ella has starring role on both pitch and small screen
Footballing TV star Ella Wardle is keeping her feet on the ground - even though she is shooting for the stars on two fronts on the pitch and the small screen.
The talented 13-year-old who lives in Brandlesholme, Bury, currently plays for Manchester United’s girls’ team and is also starring in the popular BBC Cbeebies TV show Jamie Jamieson, which focuses on life in a kids football team - something Ella knows all about.
She has also featured in Greater Manchester’s Under-14s county team - a year above her level.
Ella, a pupil at Elton High School, in Bury, is a “stopper” centre-back with United, but she is also pulling out all the stops in the Jamieson series.
“Ella auditioned for the part and was chosen to play the role of Charlie Wright,” said proud mum Kirsty.
“Playing for United her team plays in a high level boys’ league and against other girls’ academy teams.”
The teams in the Jamieson series, Hawx United and Foxborough - Ella’s team - are coached by former Manchester City favourite Jeff Whitley and Coronation Street actor Craig Kelly.
Kirsty and Ella’s grandad Steve Smith are massive City supporters.
But that does not stop them cheering on Ella - even though she is wearing the red United shirt.
“Ella’s Dad, Darren, twin brother Josh, me and her grandad are very proud of all her achievements so far and will continue to support her in what she loves doing,” Kirsty added.
