Forest Green Rovers win their last National League Cup game against Blackburn Rovers Under-21s as Jose Marquez shines
Forest Green Rovers won their final National League Cup group game in an entertaining 4-2 win over Blackburn Rovers Under-21s.
A double from youth academy player, Jose Marquez, and second-half goals from Joe Quigley and Luke McCormick gave Forest Green their first points in the competition.
Despite both sides being out of the competition, the game was a good watch for the neutral with plenty of goals for both sides.

Marquez got his second of the net when Christian Doidge released him through on goal for a delicate chip over the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper.
McCormick had the first chance of the second-half from outside of the box which forced Barrett into a good save.
Blackburn were back level after 53 minutes when Aodhan Doherty unleashed a great effort into the top-right corner past Jamie Searle.
Quigley put Rovers back ahead after a great header into the bottom-right corner just moments after he was denied by a goal-line clearance.

Blackburn continued to apply the pressure in the final minutes as Kristi Montgomery had another effort from range that was put wide of the post.
McCormick had the final say in the game and sealed the three points when Blackburn were dispossessed in their own box which was slotted by the new midfielder for another easy goal.
