Former Carlisle United striker joins Armstrong at Motherwell
Former Carlisle United striker Luke Plange has linked up with Luke Armstrong at Motherwell.
The ex-Blues loan man has joined the Scottish Premiership club until the end of the season.
Plange, 22, links up with the Fir Park in a loan deal from Crystal Palace.
It follows a previous loan spell with Finnish club HJK Helsinki.
And it will see the forward play alongside Armstrong, who is on loan at Motherwell from Carlisle until the end of the campaign.
A Saturday surprise 😮
Welcome, Luke.— Motherwell FC (@MotherwellFC) February 1, 2025
Speaking about the move to Scotland's top-flight, Plange told the Motherwell website: “I feel fit, ready and optimistic about the rest of this season.
“This is a great chance for me to build on what has been a successful season so far. I feel I have played in different leagues and bring a bit of experience on that front.
“I can’t wait to get started.”
Plange's move was confirmed ahead of Motherwell's clash with Celtic, where Armstrong is set to make his home debut, his first outing coming as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat at St Johnstone last weekend.
That game was followed by the resignation of the manager who signed Armstrong, Stuart Kettlewell, who cited abuse from fans as the reason he walked away. Stevie Frail is in caretaker charge.
Former Derby County man Plange made 26 appearances for Carlisle under Paul Simpson last season, and scored two goals, against Lincoln City and Reading.
The forward joined the Blues before the start of the 2023/24 campaign on a half-season loan and returned to Palace midway through the Cumbrians' League One relegation season after United decided not to pursue an extension.
