Former Cheltenham Town loanee Nathan Butler-Oyedeji made his Champions League debut as a late substitute for Arsenal against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old forward replaced Gabriel Martinelli in the 89th minute at the Emirates Stadium, where the Gunners were 3-0 winners.

It was his first senior appearance for Arsenal, following a superb run of form for their Under-21s team, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in nine Premier League 2 appearances.

Butler-Oyedeji made 13 substitute appearances for Cheltenham in League One during the first half of last season, also going on from the bench once in the FA Cup.

He was sent off in the 3-0 defeat at Peterborough United, which proved to be Wade Elliott's last match as manager.

Butler-Oyedeji had previously spent time on loan at Accrington Stanley during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

He has been developing at Arsenal since the age of eight, signing his first professional contract in July 2021.
