Former Derby County loanee Tawanda Chirewa sealed a deadline day to Huddersfield. After being sent back to Wolves by the Rams in January, the Wolves attacker ended up sealing a switch to Michael Duff's side last night.

Chirewa had an underwhelming spell at Derby on loan during which he made just six appearances although was badly impacted by a quad muscle injury that he picked up after defeat away to Sunderland.

He then made his return in December, but struggled to nail down a first-team place which led Derby to send him back to Molineux. Huddersfield will now hope he fares better in their promotion charge.

The club said: "We are delighted to announce the loan signing of attacking player Tawanda Chirewa from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the 2024/25 season.

"A full international for Zimbabwe, 21-year-old Chirewa spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan with Sky Bet Championship side Derby County before returning to his parent club earlier this month.

"Highly thought of at Wolves, Tawanda has already made his senior debut for the side, appearing 8 times in the Premier League and twice in the Emirates FA Cup, including in the Black Country derby against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. He was last on the bench for Wolves as soon as last Saturday for their Premier League victory over Aston Villa.

"Born in Chelmsford, his youth career began with Ipswich Town before moving to the midlands with Wolves in September 2023, with his international debut for Zimbabwe quickly following in March 2024.

"Our fourth signing of the January 2025 transfer window, he joins Ruben Roosken, Joe Taylor and Dion Charles in signing for the Club this month, and will wear squad number 27."
