Former Hull FC duo recieve big charges after alleged punching and biting incident
Former Hull FC duo Connor Wynne and Jeylan Hodgson have been referred to an RFL tribunal after receiving Grade E charges from the Match Review Panel. The duo were involved in an ugly incident in a recent pre-season match between Featherstone Rovers and Goole Vikings, one that saw Wynne have parts of his finger sewn together after a biting allegation.
The incident saw Wynne sent off for punching, with an allegation of biting made towards Hodgson. The incident will now be reviewed at an independent tribunal. The RFL's charge for Wynne read: "Punching—makes contact with the head of an opponent. Grade E." Meanwhile, Hodgson's read: "Biting. Grade E."
The RFL was set to run with a new disciplinary points system this year. However, the system is currently under review following heavy criticism after it emerged that players' points would be carried over for offences last year that have already received punishments under an old system.

But if found guilty of a Grade E offence under the new points system, Wynne and Hodgson, presuming they start the new year on zero points, could still be looking at over 12 points on their record, enough to put them on an automatic suspension of two games. The amount of points received depends on the outcome of the tribunal, with both players able to put forward their cases.
Elsewhere, it was a busy week for the RFL Match Review Panel, with ten other players charged with various offences across the first round of the Challenge Cup and the latest pre-season friendlies, including one York Acorn player, who will face a tribunal with Hull FC awaiting in the third round. They are as follows:
