Former Leicester City striker makes Championship transfer just six months after King Power exit
Kelechi Iheanacho has joined Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season from Sevilla. The deal to recruit the former Leicester City striker was announced ahead of tonight’s big Derby clash against Sunderland at the Riverside - and the 28-year-old was shown off to fans before kick-off.
The official Boro website reports: “In over 300 career appearances he has scored 85 goals and on the international stage he has netted 15 goals in 57 games. He started out at Man City as an 18-year-old where he was a League Cup winner before joining Leicester in 2017.”
Iheanacho signed for the Foxes in a reported £25 million deal on a five-year contract, but was never able to fully establish himself at the King Power Stadium where title-winning talisman Jamie Vardy continued to be City's main marksman. The Nigeria international joined Sevilla on a free last summer at the end of his Foxes contract.

Boro beat Celtic to the capture of the Iheanacho, while Leeds United are also understood to have shown an interest. He will replace Emmanuel Latte Lath, who is set to complete a move to Atlanta United.
Boro are fifth in the Championship and will be hoping that Iheanacho can score the goals to ensure they are in the top-six play-off places come the end of the season.
