Former Man City winger sends his old team a warning about Liverpool

Former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair has warned his old club that Liverpool will be hot on their heels in the Premier League title race this year.

The Reds scraped into the Champions League spots on the final day of last season while Pep Guardiola’s boys romped to the top in stunning style.

However, Jurgen Klopp has spent big in the transfer market this summer and ex-England midfielder Sinclair reckons the German’s team will push City much closer this term.

“I have to say Liverpool look outstanding,” Sinclair told Yahoo Sport Presents The Football Show on Friday.

“The recruitment that they’ve done has been brilliant. Naby Keita has come in and looks the real deal in filling Steven Gerrard’s boots.

“They’ve broken the world record to bring the goalkeeper, Alisson, in. I think they had to do that.

“I think they were closer than the league suggested last year, in terms of points, so I think they are going to be the biggest rivals for Man City.”

Guardiola’s side lifted the trophy with 100 points in 2017/18 to become the first team in Premier League history to reach the century mark.
