Former Reading award-winner 'finalising' switch to North America after Brazil exit
Former Reading goalkeeper Rafael Cabral is set to make a move to the MLS after departing Brazilian side Gremio.
The 34-year-old made almost100 appearances for the Royals between 2019 and 2022, winning Player of the Season in his debut campaign which was disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Best-known for his fast reflexes and particularly strong performance in a win over Fulham in 2019, he departed in 2022 after making just seven appearances during the previous season.
He was a regular during the 2020/21 campaign in which the Royals finished seventh in the Championship, somehow missing out on the play-offs despite spending 39 of the 46 game weeks in the top six.
Featuring over 100 times for Cruzerio, the former Brazil international spent the most recent campaign with Gremio but has opted to depart his home country again in search of regular minutes.

According to journalist Tom Bogert, this is to come with Real Salt Lake in the MLS.
Already in Utah, as can be seen via a recent Instagram post, the former Napoli stopper is 'finalising' a move.
Managed by USA legend Pablo Mastroeni, Real Salt Lake finished third in the Western Conference last season- sixth overall- and lost in the first round of the MLS Cup.
Their squad has a strong South American contingent, with stars from Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay and Ecuador supporting home-grown US talent.
