Former Reading striker Jon-Dadi Bodvarsson has joined League One relegation strugglers Burton Albion.

The Iceland international scored 17 goals in 56 appearances for the club between 2017 and 2019, including a hattrick in an FA Cup third round clash against Stevenage in 2018.

Based in England since 2016 when he joined Wolves, the striker has gone on to enjoy spells with Bolton Wanderers, Millwall and Wrexham.

Gary Bowyer's Brewers sit bottom of the third tier, 11 points adrift of safety in the first season under new owners.

Reading travel to the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday, January 28- a ground where Bodvarsson scored for the Royals in 2019.

On signing for the Brewers, Bödvarsson told the club: “It's brilliant to be here. I'm really looking forward to meeting up with the lads ands hopefully I can help the team to climb up the table.

"The club has a nice family feel to it and as a family man myself I can't wait to get started."

Burton Albion Head Coach Bowyer added: “I'm absolutely delighted. To have attracted somebody of his experience and his quality is a real credit to everybody. We can't wait for him to get going because he's going to be such a valuable player for us.
