Former Saints defender Perraud stuns fans with brilliant goal for new club
FORMER Saints defender Romain Perraud has been at it again with his ridiculous long range shooting - this time in Spain's La Liga.
French left-back Perraud scored a remarkable goal for new club Real Betis in their entertaining 2-2 draw against Athletic Bilbao.
Just before half-time, 27 year old Perraud unleashed a powerful right-footed shot from outside the box, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The goal was notable for its low expected goal (xG) value of 0.01 and was Perraud’s first goal for Betis since joining the club last summer.
Perraud's strike made it 2-1 to Betis, in a match in which debutant loanee from Man United - Antony - also impressed in green and white.
Perraud scored five goals in 60 matches for Saints, with four coming in the 2022/23 season despite relegation from the Premier League.
His first two were strikes from range in matches against West Ham United, while he netted a brace including a free-kick against Blackpool.
Perraud spent the 2023/24 season on loan at OGC Nice before completing his permanent departure from St Mary's in July 2024.
