Four Leicester City players with uncertain futures ahead of transfer deadline day
The winter window is in its final few days and Leicester City are still working to bring in new signings to boost the club’s Premier League survival hopes.
But with time running out and budgets tight, it seems there are likely to be more exits than arrivals before Monday night’s deadline. Here’s a rundown of the players who could yet depart the King Power Stadium.
Will Alves
After making his Premier League debut at the end of September, Alves had suggested he wanted a loan spell away from City to get a regular run of senior minutes. His hope looks like being fulfilled.

A loan switch to Championship side Cardiff is currently being negotiated. The Bluebirds are short on wide-men and so Alves should get plenty of game-time, which is exactly what he needs, and what City need for him.
Odsonne Edouard
The Crystal Palace loanee has not played a single minute under Ruud van Nistelrooy and that doesn’t look like changing if Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka stay fit. And so, it’s not worth him sticking around.
However, cancelling the loan may be costly. The problem was nearly solved for them when Atlanta United made a move for the Frenchman, but he remains at City with a few days to go.
If City have a Premier League loan in mind and feel they can get the deal done, they will then have to bite the bullet on Edouard and cancel his loan. Only two Premier League loans are permitted at any one time.
Luke Thomas
Woyo Coulibaly’s arrival, and his versatility, saw Thomas miss out on the matchday squad at Spurs. It feels like that will be the story for the rest of the season, and it may even get more difficult for him when Ricardo Pereira is back in contention around March.
In that case, a move away may work for both the left-back and the club. Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have been attributed with interest.
Caleb Okoli
The Italian centre-back had a good run of games in the team under Steve Cooper, but was dropped just before the former manager’s sacking and has not managed to find his way back into the team. He’s yet to start a game under van Nistelrooy.
He’s been heavily linked with a return to Italy this month. It’s not out of the question. But it would require a centre-back to arrive at City first.
