Frank Lampard bemoans Championship schedule as Coventry City prepare for Leeds United challenge
Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard admits the timing of their clash with Leeds United is "not ideal". The Championship match was originally scheduled to take place this Saturday.
But the fixture, which will be staged at the Coventry Building Society Arena, was rearranged for tomorrow night after both clubs progressed to the FA Cup fourth round. Table-topping United face Millwall in the competition this weekend while City host Premier League strugglers Ipswich Town.
On the Whites match being moved, Lampard said: "It wasn’t ideal for us but it is what it is. We will manage the squad and it isn’t one to complain about too much. Sometimes the Championship throws up heavy schedules so we will manage it as best as we can and take all these games on.”

The Sky Blues enter the contest in good form, having won four in a row to move up to 11th in the table. Saturday's comfortable 2-0 triumph at Swansea City saw Lampard's men cut the gap to West Bromwich Albion, who currently occupy the final play-off spot, to three points with 16 matches remaining.
“We’ve made up some ground that’s for sure and we’re playing better," said Lampard, whose side are in action six times this month. "Performances are good and they’re going on well but the minute those standards drop that won’t continue.
“If we want to keep that positive momentum, it’s great to look up a bit now, but understand what it takes to keep going, but we’ve got ourselves in a good position now.”
