Frank Lampard makes Coventry City transfer stance clear in response to Blackburn Rovers 'talks'
Frank Lampard has responded to reports from Lancashire that Blackburn Rovers are keen to sign Coventry City defender Liam Kitching in the current transfer window.
The Lancashire Telegraph claim that Rovers, who signed veteran Kyle McFadzean last January after his contract was terminated by mutual consent, have put the feelers out and made contact with the Sky Blues over a potential move, which would be on loan, for Kitching this month. Rovers, of course, are managed by former Coventry star John Eustace.
Centre-back Kitching, who was bought from Barnsley in the summer of 2023 in a deal that could reach £4million, has been limited to just eight league appearances so far this season, having played 32 times in his first campaign, but was handed his first start against Norwich last weekend when he impressed the new head coach despite City’s late collapse at Carrow Road.

Asked by CoventryLive if there is anything in the reports of interest in the 25-year-old, Lampard said: “Not as far as I’m aware, and I’m not concerned.”
Asked if he’s a player he wants to keep, for the time being at least, he added: “Yeah. I’ve been here in the short term and I’ve done this job quite a few times now and for a period of time, and I know that you can try to make conclusions too quickly when you come into a squad that aren’t always the conclusions you come to in the end. I’m not just talking about Coventry, I’m talking about being at Chelsea, at Derby... You know you have to give players fair time and players have to be patient because I can only pick certain players.
“They have to do everything right but I can’t make those casual observations now to go, ‘no, he can leave and go and do this or that,’ so we absolutely have to give players time to work, to feel what’s the best for this season and see how good we can get. We want to improve performances and how many points we can get and then can we look at it (in the summer) and go, how do we get even better?
“This isn’t that time, for me, Absolutely not. Many things can change but at the same time I want to work these players.”
