Frank Lampard has named his Coventry City team to face Cardiff on New Year's Day
Frank Lampard has made just one change as Coventry City kick-off the new year against Cardiff in the Welsh capital.
In comes Ellis Simms for Norman Bassette up front as the Sky Blues are otherwise unchanged against the Bluebirds, which means Oliver Dovin continues in goal for the third game running since taking Brad Collins’ place.
The back four sees Bobby Thomas and Joel Latibeaudiere continue their central defensive partnership, with Milan van Ewijk at right-back and Jake Bidwell continuing to keep Jay Dasilva out on the left.

Josh Eccles and Ben Sheaf are once again the central midfield pairing with Victor Torp in the more attacking role behind the lone striker in what’s expected to be a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Tatsuhiro Sakamoto on the right wing and Jack Rudoni deputising for the injured Ephron Mason-Clark on the left for the second consecutive match.
Lampard has plenty of attacking options from the bench, including Bassette, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Fabio Tavares and Raphael Borges Rodrigues, who is yet to make his debut for the club.
