Frank Lampard has named an unchanged Coventry City side to face Swansea in what’s expected to be a feisty affair in South Wales after this week’s transfer switch, with the Swans’ best player, Matt Grimes, signing for the Sky Blues.

The midfielder isn’t featuring today and while his absence from the home team clearly weakens Luke Williams’ side, his move will arguably have galvanised the dressing room to go out and get one over the visitors.

Oliver Dovin continues in goal for Coventry on a day when Brad Collins continues as back-up from the bench at a time when Ben Wilson has returned to full training following recovery from a knee injury.

The back three sees former Swan Joel Latibeaudiere joined by Bobby Thomas in the middle and Liam Kitching on the left, while the wing-backs in the 3-5-2 formation are occupied by Milan van Ewijk on the right and another former Swansea man, Jake Bidwell, on the left.

That leaves a midfield trio of Victor Torp and Jack Rudoni deployed as eights either side of skipper Jamie Allen in a deeper holding and patrolling role in the middle of the park.

And finally, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Ellis Simms continue their partnership up front on a day when Norman Bassette is the only recognised striker amongst the sub following Fabio Tavares’ loan move to Burton Albion. Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Raphael Borges Rodrigues, however, do provide attacking options.

Elsewhere, Ryan Howley is named in the squad for the first time this season after being recalled from his loan spell with Ayr United in Scotland, while young development centre-back Callum Perry is also included on a day when Jack Burroughs isn’t, having been named on last week’s teamsheet.

City: Oliver Dovin; Joel Latibeaudiere, Bobby Thomas, Liam Kitching; Milan van Ewijk, Victor Torp, Jamie Allen, Jack Rudoni, Jake Bidwell; Brandon Thomas-Asante, Ellis Simms.

Subs: Brad Collins (GK); Luis Binks, Jay Dasilva, Josh Eccles, Norman Bassette, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Raphael Borges Rodrigues, Ryan Howley, Callum Perry.
