Frank Lampard provides Coventry City transfer update in wake of Chelsea loan link
Coventry City fans are going to have to wait a bit longer for Frank Lampard to make his first new signing since taking charge of the club after the head coach admits there’s “nothing imminent” in terms of fresh arrivals.
The Sky Blues boss did, however, reiterate his intention to strengthen his squad in the current transfer window which has been open for almost two weeks with very little concrete activity aside from Kai Andrew’s being sent out on loan to Motherwell.
Asked if there’s any sign of any new arrivals or whether he hopes to get anyone in this week, Lampard told CoventryLive: “No, not necessarily this week. We are looking to see if we can help the squad.

“There are a couple of areas we’re looking at but there’s nothing absolutely imminent. We’ll see but we know we’re missing some players but players who are here already will have to step in. And if we can help the squad in a couple of areas then we’ll be looking to do that.”
Lampard has previously admitted that his side could do with a bit of “help” on the wings, particularly given the absence of Haji Wright and Ephron Mason-Clark with injuries, while this week’s news that Ben Sheaf is sidelined for up to six weeks means attention is likely to also focus on central midfield.
According to the Evening Standard, City are due to hold discussions with Lampard’s former club Chelsea this week over a possible loan deal for rising teenage midfield star Sam Rak-Sakyi. Asked about the link, the City boss didn’t rule it out, saying: “I’m aware of the player but I’m not going to mention names.”
