Frank Lampard remains 'hopeful' as latest Coventry City injury revealed
Coventry City look set to be without first choice defender Jake Bidwell for Tuesday night’s Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers.
The Sky Blues left-back/wing-back has suffered an adductor injury (a group of muscles in the inner thigh that move the legs toward the body’s midline) which forced him to sit out Saturday’s fourth round FA Cup defeat to Premier League Ipswich Town. And afterwards, head coach Frank Lampard revealed that the experienced player could be out for up to a week, with the hope being that he could be available for next weekend’s trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday in the league.
Jay Dasilva filled in for Bidwell against the Tractor Boys and is again set to play against QPR this midweek as City face their third game in the space of seven days in a hectic run of fixtures that has forced Lampard to manage his squad through tiredness, fatigue and on-going injuries.

Milan van Ewijk was named by the City boss as one of those players who needed to be rested against Ipswich, having been ever present before the weekend, playing 35 games so far this season.
“The context of the game is that they (Ipswich) played last weekend and will play against next weekend,” said Lampard. “We played on Wednesday and play again on Tuesday night, so I think we had to rest a few players today through pure fatigue and to keep people fresh.
“We have got players out, Bidders has picked up a little issue which hopefully won’t be that bad for him, and hopefully he’ll be back soon. But that kept him out against Ipswich.”
Asked to elaborate on the injury, the 46-year-old added: “It’s a small adductor injury which we’re hoping will be days (for recovery), maybe up to a week or so at this point.”
