Frank Lampard shows true colours with gesture to Leeds United fans after Coventry City defeat
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard decided to cup his ears to the Leeds United fans following his side's 2-0 defeat at the CBS Arena on Wednesday night.
Daniel Farke's side ran out comfortable winners in the West Midlands thanks to first-half goals from Joel Piroe and Jayden Bogle. In fact, Leeds could have scored more, with the Whites creating FIVE clear-cut chances to Coventry's one, with Piroe, Manor Solomon and Daniel James, in particular, missing good opportunities.
However, that didn't matter to the result as Leeds moved five points clear at the top of the Championship. As for Coventry, it was their first defeat in 10 matches after a recent excellent run under Lampard.

But despite losing, Lampard made two bizarre gestures to the travelling Leeds fans after the full-time whistle. Lampard decided to cup his ears to the Leeds supporters and then outstretched his fist.
It's unknown why Lampard chose to make them gestures to the Leeds fans, especially after his Coventry side had lost 2-0. One reason behind why ex-Chelsea midfielder Lampard could have done that is following the infamous spygate controversy with Marcelo Bielsa when he was in charge of Derby County in the 2018/19 season.
Derby were sat in the play-offs in January 2019 when they faced a trip to Elland Road, with opponents Leeds in top spot. Before the game, though, it emerged that Bielsa had sent a staff member to spy on the Rams' training session. Lampard was furious with Bielsa and Leeds, who ran out 2-0 winners on that occasion.
However, Lampard managed to get the last laugh that season. His Derby side beat Leeds 4-3 on aggregate in the Championship play-off semi-final, though the Rams lost to Aston Villa in the final at Wembley.
In the aftermath, Lampard left Derby and became Chelsea's next manager. He spent 18 months at Stamford Bridge before he was sacked. In that time, he managed against Leeds once following the Whites' promotion to the Premier League and that ended as a 3-1 win for Lampard and the Blues.
Lampard returned to management with Everton in January 2022 and once again he went head-to-head against Leeds. While in charge of the Toffees, Lampard drew one and won one in matches versus Leeds. The last of which came in August 2022 - and Wednesday's game in Coventry was the first since then.
