Free football kits a big boost for local team's success
A football team is set to stand out on the pitch with brand-new kits, courtesy of the UK's largest power supplier.
Octopus Energy has delivered a major boost to Chalfont St Peter’s football scene, including the Chalfonts Community College Girls’ Team, by sponsoring them with free football kits.
The Chalfonts Community College Girls’ Team is among the beneficiaries of the free 'Octokits' initiative, part of Octopus Energy's popular rewards program, Octoplus.
The energy company had initially aimed to outfit 500 children's teams as part of this giveaway.
However, due to an overwhelming response, they accepted applications for more than five times that number.
More than 2,500 grassroots teams across the UK will now be sporting over 27,000 of these eye-catching sponsored kits.
Chalfonts Community College Girls’ Team will be one of the proud teams to showcase their new Octokits.
The team focuses on providing girls the opportunity to follow the growing success of England’s Lionesses, by learning, playing, and developing their football skills alongside their studies.
The team arranges fixtures against other schools in the local area, participates in tournaments, and even takes the students on sports tours to play against opponents overseas.
Jasmine Walker, coach of the Chalfonts Community College Girls’ Team, said: "Thanks to Octopus Energy, we have an amazing kit that the girls can wear with pride.
"The team loves the colour and we stand out wherever we go. The girls love this. Thank you Octopus."
Player Thea Allen also expressed her gratitude, saying: "Thank you to Octopus for providing us with these kits.
"We absolutely love playing in them."
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy, said: "Our customers are the driving force behind everything we do, and we can’t wait to see these amazing teams hit the pitch, decked out and ready to dominate the season in style."
The initiative is the latest perk for Octoplus customers, who already enjoy rewards like free sweet treats, festival tickets, kids’ cinema trips, and restaurant discounts.
Nearly two million Octopus customers have joined the Octoplus scheme, amassing more than £13 million of redeemable 'Octopoints' by maintaining a healthy energy account or reducing their energy usage during the company’s 'Saving Sessions'.
The initiative not only encourages energy conservation but also supports community initiatives, such as children's football, thus ensuring a win-win situation for all.
By supporting local football, Octopus Energy is not only assisting in the development of young talents but also promoting the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle among children.
