Aston Villa have reportedly agreed personal terms with winger Donyell Malen as they seek to strike a deal with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund for the Dutchman's services this month. Villa are eager to expand Unai Emery's attacking options in the second half of the season and are targeting Malen, who has 18 months left on his contract.

Dortmund are open to selling the player but will demand that any interested clubs meet their valuation of the player, which is supposedly in the region of £25m - something that Villa are negotiating. Their opening bid worth around £15m and was rejected, with Dortmund holding out for more.

Malen, who came through the ranks at Ajax, joined Arsenal in 2015 and spent two years in the Gunners' academy before returning to the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven. Excelling in the Eredivisie, he was then snapped up by Dortmund in 2021 to replace Jadon Sancho, who had been sold to Manchester United.

The forward has scored 39 goals in 131 appearances for the German club, but he has previously expressed publicly his desire to return to England and have another crack at the Premier League. Whether that's with Villa from this month remains to be seen, with talks continuing, but reports suggest that personal terms haven't been an issue.

Villa are open to allowing Jaden Philogene a loan move away from the club in the second half of this season, with previous suitors Ipswich Town, as well as sides abroad, interested in a deal. Villa's options were skinny at the weekend in their win over Leicester City but they'll recover Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers from suspension in time for their next Premier League game.
