'Frustrated' Ruben Selles questions Hull City's lack of ruthless edge after Cardiff City loss
Hull City boss Ruben Selles bemoaned his side's lack of cutting edge as he watched the Tigers lose 1-0 at relegation rivals Cardiff City.
Callum Robinson's deflected second half volley was enough to separate the two struggling sides at the Cardiff City Stadium. And though the away side dominated the game, they managed just four shots in the game and their only effort on target came in the 82nd minute when Alfie Jones headed Abu Kamara's cross straight at goalkeeper Ethan Horvath.
It was a tepid display from City, who again passed up a chance to make it back-to-back wins following Saturday's tremendous success at Sunderland, another factor which left the Spaniard frustrated.

"We are all frustrated with our performance tonight. I don't think it was a bad performance. We were not ruthless enough and we were not as aggressive or as intense as we wanted to be," Selles told Hull Live.
"Yes, absolutely, absolutely (we let ourselves down in not creating enough). We got the control of the game having the ball, but we didn't get any penetration, any threat, any second movement into the box, any movement in and around there.
"The opposition did a good job of course but I think we need to put ourselves in a position to do more.
"We talk about coming here today and trying to play our game and trying to be dynamic and trying to be aggressive and try to get a second victory in a row, try to give us a platform to grow, and we as a team we didn't, so we don't give ourselves the chance to breathe a little bit and get some points away from the relegation zone.
"It's just for us. We need to find a way to come into those games and be more aggressive to create our chances."
At times in the contest, both teams looked scared to attack and much of the game was played across the middle third. Selles, though, didn't feel it was the case that both were frightened to push forward and create.
"I don't think we were scared," he said. "I think it's the game when we start to play, we break up the pressure the first couple of times, they become a little bit lower and then we have the ball and we were not making the second movement to attack. They were just moving and waiting for us to make the mistake. I don't think we were afraid.
"They were protecting really well and then we were not able to break them down and even find the pass to create this organisation, I think that was that. Then in the beginning of the second half we conceded a goal from a second action from a set piece that we usually defend well and that was it.
"It took us until the minute 82 to create something. I'm disappointed because we should play the games with no fear because that's the reality. I don't know if it was a fear or no fear that I would need to find out, but we need to go and give ourselves the opportunity to perform.
"We are good in the games that we can go and attack and make the second movement and go to those spaces. When we are just waiting on a game as slow as we played today, we cannot compete."
Meanwhile, City will assess Eliot Matazo after he left the pitch with a knee injury and so, too, Sean McLoughlin, who was forced off with a back problem. Selles also confirmed Steven Alzate wasn't fit to start the game after complaining of some discomfort following Saturday's win at the Stadium of Light.
