Fuad Sule has a philosophical outlook on his decision to leave Larne nearly two years ago. The defensive midfielder made the switch to Glentoran after helping the Invermen bag their first ever Premiership title.

The Gibson Cup returned to Inver Park last season before Larne made history by qualifying for the group stages of the UEFA Conference League this campaign.

Sule admitted it's only human to think what might have been as he still awaits the chance to get his hands on some silverware at The Oval but he believes success is only around the corner for the Glens and it will hit differently when it does come.

"I wouldn't say regret," said the 27-year-old when asked if he had any regrets over his move. "I suppose I'm a man that thinks everything happens for a reason. It was just meant to be that way and that's how it is. I've moved on and they've moved on and that's just how football is.

"There's going to be an element of should've, would've and could've and things like that in terms of playing in the group stage of Europe and winning the league again, but I'm only human and I'm only going to have that feeling of if I stayed that could have been me. It is what it is...I'm at Glentoran and I'm fully focused on winning the final.

"When you're not at Glentoran you don't realise what the demands of the club are, irrespective of the budget and the players they have. Glentoran fans are always going to demand success and that's just the nature of the football club and what they've historically been used to.

"You don't realise how big the football club is until you're in there and how important it would be to win silverware for Glentoran. Winning the league for Larne is one thing in terms of it being the first time in the club's history, but I think winning the league for Glentoran is a different kettle of fish."

It's five years since Glentoran's last trophy success when they won the Irish Cup back in 2020. They can end that drought tomorrow night with victory in the Co Antrim Shield final, and Sule final a win will give them a platform to build on just like it did for opponents Larne.

"That first Shield success for Larne was a springboard for more success," he said. "It's getting over that hoodoo of our first trophy in and it's going to create that mentality of wanting that winning feeling.

"It's only going to make you crave that feeling more and that feeling I had at Larne when we were making that progression, I have that feeling now at Glentoran and hopefully we can win and get that trophy in the cabinet."
