GAA star in ‘hot water’ over apparent strike to groin after incident is highlighted on The Sunday Game
Kilkenny great Jackie Tyrrell reckons Limerick ace Seamus Flanagan could be in ‘hot water’ with the GAA’s top brass after being caught on camera appearing to strike a Cork player between his legs with his hurl.
Limerick and Cork played out a draw in Saturday night’s League encounter. Reviewing the game on League Sunday, both Tyrrell and ex-Galway All-Star, Joe Canning, criticised Flanagan’s part in the incident.
He was caught on camera appearing to strike out at a Cork defender in the groin area.

In reply to host Joanne Cantwell’s question, Canning was asked whether ‘Seamus Flanagan would find himself in trouble’.
Canning said: “It is a thing you don’t like to see in any game. It shouldn’t be condoned.
“There were an awful lot of things going on off the ball last night and it is very hard for referees to see everything that is going on.
“And it is unfortunate but it is not good to see.”
Tyrrell added: “There is no room in our game for that kind of carry-on. Seamus Flanagan is a very talented hurler but he shouldn’t be doing that on the field.
“What the umpires were doing and how they missed it, I don’t know.
“He needs to be very, very careful and he could land himself in hot water over that.”
