Outspoken pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has tipped Leeds United to gain promotion this season. The Whites visit mid-table Derby County tomorrow evening looking to tighten their grip on top spot.

Victory over Stoke City on Boxing Day nudged United above Burnley and Sheffield United into first position. It was their first victory on the road in over a month.

The Whites, beaten by Southampton in the Championship play-off final last term, have suffered just three defeats in 23 outings. They head to Pride Park Stadium on the back of a five-match unbeaten run and having accumulated an impressive 48 points in the first half of the campaign.

Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “I do [think they will get promoted]. On Sunday, it’ll be a happy [Daniel] Farke because Derby are poor.

“Leeds are a very good team. Derby very good at home, poor away. They are playing at home on Sunday, but Farke’s team are too strong for anyone at the moment.”

Farke, who could be without the services of defender Max Wober (knee) for the third match running, is refusing to underestimate the threat the Rams will pose this weekend. "I expect they will try to surprise us again with a change in their base formation," said Farke. "You always have to be switched on in order to find good solutions.

"We will try to prepare our team in the best possible way without overloading them in the next 48 hours. We have to make sure we match their intensity and are good in possession. We have to bring our principles on the pitch again and it will then give us the chance to win some points. If you're two per cent away from your best level, then you have no chance at Derby. They have proven that in many, many home games so we have to be switched on."
