Gerwyn Price reveals 'nightmare' health issue amid World Darts Championship exit
Gerwyn Price has revealed a 'nightmare' health issue he has suffered with for years, having being knocked out of the PDC World Darts Championship.
The Welshman, who won the tournament back in 2019, was sent home from Alexandra Palace in the quarter-finals after being beaten by Chris Dobey. Price had put himself in a strong position to make the last four, leading by two sets before Dobey came roaring back to seal a stunning win that he later admitted was the 'top' moment of his career so far.
The exit came as 'The Iceman' revealed he had been dealing with an ear problem that was "doing his head in" as he took to the oche at Ally Pally. While the issue has persisted for years, he added that his busy schedule means he has been unable to get help.

"It feels like I have been in a swimming pool of water," he told reporters. "It’s frustrating. I pop my ears and it feels fine. It’s a nightmare, It's doing my head in. I’ve been taking antibiotics for a week and they are not working.
"It’s hard work. I have had this problem for the last six, seven, eight years, I am used to it now," he added.
"I’m supposed to see an ear, throat and nose specialist, but it’s too busy, isn’t it? I miss so many appointments with the ENT. You end up having a tournament here and there. I end up playing darts.”
The revelation comes after a difficult year for Price, who previously admitted he was falling out of love with darts and suggested he would decline an invitation to join Premier League Darts even if he made the cut for it. However, he has since backtracked on those comments and said he'd be "stupid not to" join the competition.
"Having time off over the last few weeks has made me realise that without darts, I'm just at home bored," he wrote on social media. "So hopefully, yes I'm in. And trust me, I'm in a completely different frame of mind to the last few years.”
After Price missed out on a semi-final place, Dobey went on to face Michael van Gerwen but suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat. The Dutchman will now take on tournament favourite Luke Littler in a blockbuster semi-final, with the teenager beating Stephen Bunting by the same scoreline on Thursday night.
