Gerwyn Price shows true colours with classy Chris Dobey moment in epic Ally Pally clash
Gerwyn Price showed his true colours with a classy touch during his quarter-final showdown with Chris Dobey at Alexandra Palace on New Year's Day. Price, 39, is gunning for his second PDC World Darts Championship title after picking up the top prize in 2021 - but there is some work for the Welshman to do.
It was never going to be easy for 'The Iceman' to gain control against his last-eight opponent. And so that proved as Dobey made it 2-1 after three sets in the afternoon's opening match.
But in a race to five to make it through to the semi-finals, the tungsten tussle could go either way, yet.

Price, who regularly divides opinion in darting spheres, might have been ruing missed opportunities when he saw Dobey land the third set with a pinpoint double 14 finish. However, displaying his sportsmanship, 'The Iceman' was clear to make his true feelings known as he instead fist bumped Dobey after that sublime 107 out.
The crowd, who have cheered heavily in favour of 'Hollywood' throughout the meeting so far, then burst into full song mode with another rendition of; 'There's only one Chris Dobey'. It's a tune that has been heard regularly over the years at Alexandra Palace as it was previously reserved for iconic 16-time world champion Phil Taylor.
Price and Dobey kicked-off an action-packed day at the sport's modern-day home. Michael van Gerwen vs Callan Rydz, Peter Wright vs Stephen Bunting and Luke Littler vs Nathan Aspinall are the day's other matches.
After that, the semi-finals will take place on Thursday, before a mouth-watering showpiece on Friday night. Littler remains the bookies favourite to go all the way after that eye-catching run to the final on debut last January.
Price, from Markham, Wales, booked his spot in the last-eight with victory (4-2) over Jonny Clayton.
