Gerwyn Price's wife was left shaking and in tears after her husband's epic win over Joe Cullen in the World Darts Championship.

Price defeated Cullen 4-3 in an epic match at Alexandra Palace, with nine breaks of throw throughout their encounter. At three sets and five legs each, Price needed to take out 45 to win the sudden death leg, which he did.

Cue the classic 'Gezzy' battle cry of "Come on!", coupled with an appearance of true relief. The cameras then cut to wife Bethan Palmer who was teary-eyed as she looked towards the stage, before covering her eyes as her hands shook.

Price himself embraced Cullen, with the pair exchanging some words after their big clash. After their on-stage respect, Price took the opportunity to have a bit of banter with his opponent after the game.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Price made a reference to Cullen's recent awkward engagements with the press. "I can play a lot better than I played tonight, so can Joe. No disrespect to him... nobody wants to disrespect Joe Cullen these days."

"I certainly learned that the hard way," added Sky Sports presenter Abigail Davies.

Although he had no obligation to talk to Sky Sports after the game, Cullen chose not to answer questions following his loss and left the building immediately after the match.

After his win over Wessel Nijman in the previous round, Welsh reporter Davies interviewed Cullen on stage, but the answers he gave were very short and lacked any effort or depth. He was criticised online for his behaviour in this interview.

Cullen later confirmed that he had prepped Davies that he would not be telling her much. "Last thing I'll say just to clarify this... myself and Abi get on brilliant," he wrote on X. "I briefed Abi before the interview started that I wouldn't be giving her much... and she replied, 'No problem sugar t**s! ' (in the voice of Gavin and Stacey character Nessa) - just to draw a line under that. Enjoy Xmas guys."

In the subsequent post-match press conference, Cullen walked out early after criticising the press for their treatment of him after Nijman was the bookmakers' favourite for the match-up. "I've struggled this year on the oche and off the oche so to find a performance like that, to be honest I've got you guys to thank because I don't think I would have played like that if I hadn't read some of the nonsense that I read beforehand.

"Honestly, the media attention that Wessel's got, again, this is not a reflection on him, he seems like a fantastic kid, he's been caught up in a few things beforehand [referring to Nijman's match-fixing ban in 2020], but he's served his time and held his hands up like a lot haven't.

"So I think the way I've been treated, probably, with the media and things like that... I know, obviously, you guys have no control over the bookies, but I've been shown no respect. So I won't show respect to any of you guys tonight. I'm gonna go home, cheers."
