Cheltenham Town are set to sign midfielder Timothée Dieng on loan from Gillingham until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old will become the club's sixth signing of the January window, five of which have been temporary additions.

Frenchman Dieng started out with Ligue 1 club Brest before spells at Oldham Athletic, Bradford City, Southend United and Exeter City.

He joined Gillingham in January 2023 and has made 14 appearances for the Kent club this season.

He went on from the bench for the Gills and hit the post with a headed effort in last Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town.

Dieng's arrival will take the number of loans in Michael Flynn's squad to six, with only five permitted in a match day squad of 18.

Darragh Power is the only permanent arrival of the window so far, joining on an 18-month contract from League of Ireland club Waterford FC.

The other mid-season loan additions have been midfielder Tommy Backwell, forward Ashley Hay, left-back Val Adedokun and winger Ethan Williams, along with central defender Sam Stubbs who has been with the club since the summer window.

Cheltenham defeated Chesterfield 1-0 at home in League Two on Saturday afternoon, thanks to Arkell Jude-Boyd's 92nd minute winner.
