Incoming Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has offered support to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid Anfield links. The 23-year-old forward has been on the Reds' radar with Arne Slot's side said to have been monitoring his future.

The ECHO reported last week that Liverpool were long-standing admirers in the Georgian attacker after his future at Napoli became unclear. It followed reports from The Athletic that they could make a move for Kvaratskhelia this month and were attentive to his situation, despite a wealth of options in attacking areas.

However, Paris Saint-Germain are said to be on the verge of landing the highly-rated winger for £59million after winning the race for his signature.

Kvaratskhelia posted an emotional message on his Instagram as he bid farewell to Naples ahead of a move to the French capital. Mamardashvili, who will become a Liverpool player in the summer, sent a message of support to his international teammate with two blue love hearts.

In a lengthy statement, the 23-year-old hinted that one day he will tell the full story of his untimely departure from the 2023/24 Serie A champions. He said: "I say goodbye, but you will always be in my heart, and I hope we will meet again. I know that your heart is very broken, but one day I will tell you everything.

"I want to wish you success, to give this city, these people the Scudetto. Today it’s probably the last time I set foot in this stadium as a Napoli player. I really wanted to do it before I took my leave.

"This place, every memory, the fans chanting in the stands has already become the recollection that I will cherish for many years to come."
