Saracens fought back and got themselves back into the game after a converted Rosie Galligan try and Zoe Harrison penalty, making it 12-10.

Scrum-half Natasha Hunt looked to have given the hosts a bit of breathing space when she sniped over for an opportunistic score in the 35th minute, but Saracens hit back straight away when Harrison got on the scoresheet again, this time with a five-pointer.

The fly-half’s converted try took the scores to 19-17 at the half time break, with the game nicely poised.

The second half began perfectly for Gloucester-Hartpury when Emma Sing went over for one of the tries of the season so far.

With Harrison tracking across to make the tackle, the full-back showed great pace to avoid her and dot down.

But as had been the case in the first half, Saracens were straight back on the offensive and cut Gloucester-Hartpury’s lead to just two when Harrison got in for her second try.

The two sides traded tries once again, taking the scoreline to 33-31.

Player of the match Maud Muir finished off a wonderful team try as Sarah Beckett showed some wonderful hands to draw the last line of Sarries defence and put the tighthead over.

Saracens responded quickly with Kelsey Clifford going over to bring it back to a two-point game yet again and a tense final 15 minutes was on the cards.

But Gloucester-Hartpury turned the screw heading into the last 10 minutes when Neve Jones and Mackenzie Carson made it a hat trick of scores for the front row.

The Circus had a 47-31 lead at this point and controlled the final exchanges to finish off an authoritative win, going leading into the massive match with the Chiefs.
